Hi Getzapped,

I agree with this beautiful quotation! 'Age is…wisdom, if one has lived one's life properly.'

To me living one's life properly does mean it is ok to make all the mistakes in the world and learn from them and continue to live confidently even though we know we will make more mistakes, as the more mistakes we make and learn, the better and exciting our life will be. Ha ha. Contradicting but thats my take, dear.

I think your making a valid point with the age series. I think so many people are caught up in the "youth" or being young. Which is fine, but there isn't anything wrong with getting old either, and there seems to be a lot of negative feelings that go along with it. I want to think that all ages are special, being young or old should both be celebrated, just not one or the other.

makes me wonder what 'properly' is supposed to mean... living life to the full, have adventures, learn on mistakes? if so, i can only agree...
as they say, youth is wasted on the young so why not try to make something of it :)

Even in the residents that I work with (who most people would probably say that calling them wise is quite a stretch) but I see glimmers of wisdom come through from time to time, and I am always amazed because they have so many obstacles to overcome for that wisdom to shine out of them. And that makes it all the more precious.

Beautiful words and so true. Yes, living life properly is making mistakes and learning from them.

ruby- I happy it resonates with you ;) And I agree with your take on mistakes, we must in order to grow...

shrig- I love how you put this!

polona- yes, properly is subjective, isn't it?

raindog- I love your attitude!

lp- how beautiful and lucky that you can see this.

stephen- you said it!

Wisdom is really learning, which it doesn't take the ageing process to acquire.
We have a whole lifetime to do alot of looking and listening. What we do with it along the way - whatever the definition of living it properly might be, will determine if we can reach old age and be content...and hopefully to want to go on learning that way right until the end. Amen.
