Old Persons
Old places and old persons in their turn, when spirit dwells in them, have an intrinsic vitality of which youth is incapable, precisely, the balance and wisdom that come from long perspectives and broad foundations. ~George Santayana

there is indeed something special about old places and (some) old people...
Yes- I can think of a handful of special older folks in my life that I want to be like ("when I grow up").
As for old places, I think the most intense old place I've ever been to was a graveyard in Massachusetts- we just stumbled upon it in the middle of the woods in the night- it was spooky and exhilerating all at the same time. Many of the gravestones were so old we couldn't read them, but being in one of the original colonies of our nation, some of them were OLD (I know, people always say, "you should go to Europe and see some REALLY ancient graveyeards", and I just might!)
Thought provoking as always, GZ!
I luv to talk with seasoned souls, such wisdom such life that lies inside them.
So true.
My Grandparents are prime examples of this.
polona- yes, and old people alike.
lp- me, too. I adore the elderly. I spent the night (more than once) in a civil war graveyard in Harper's Ferry WV years ago and found it fascinating!
written v- me, too. So much to learn, if we take the time to listen...
urban- how lucky you are! I am spending time with my Aunt and Uncle here in Baja and taking in all I can....
Peace.
very true indeed.....
I often say I wouldn't want to go back to my youth because I love the wisdom I've cultivated along the way. I like that I've been open to receiving life's lessons, ay least in most cases. Once in a while I have to repeat the experience before I get it. I adore the elderly, even the cranky ones. (I just try to stay out of their way sometimes!) I hope you're having a peaceful, relaxing getaway :-)
