I love Miles Davis.

That's an interesting quote but I understand him completely, from a musicians point of view.

Play what's not there.

hey urban- I dig him a lot, too. His music changed me. Peace to you.

YES YES AND AGAIN YES!
Hi. I play piano, and I LOVE playing improvisationally. It's way too fun to be legal.
Great pic and quote!

susan- you seem like that type, I wish I could flow more like that. Whenever you get to it...

ahh miles. big fan of his highly underrated 70s period. get up with it, etc. if i remember correctly, doesn't this quote come from him as he tries to motivate a room full of classically-trained musicians during the sketches of spain sessions?

raindog- I'm not aware of such an event, but it sounds like something Miles would offer the stiffer group. They must have gotten it - because that is one heck of a piece of music. When I listen to those tunes, I feel it in the pit of my belly. Bitches Brew is another favorite. Thanks for stopping by.

Fabulous. Reminds me of Louis Armstrong saying: "We all do do - re - mi. But you have got to find the other notes yourself."
