joni - hey - good eye! For all you viewers: this photo is part of the lighthouse grounds at Discovery Park in Seattle. The lighthouse is currently undergoing renovation. A cool place to visit!
devika - I like the Cleese quote too - very good one! I see this a matter of not being satisfied and desire overshadow the joy in the present.
GZ, I am trying to understand what you are saying....My life is only the present, and I can only "live" the joys and sorrows of it....But there's also that tricky thing about time, that it flips in no time into past, and we are left to cherish the joys of the past.....and that sometimes makes my present sweet, if I can forgo the bad experiences (not forget)
I don't really see "desire" as going beyond the now -- its making the now worthwhile...atleast thats what i try :)
A great sentence, fortunately debatable... It´s fantastic you´ll come to see Salamanca and I could show you it. It´s a wonderful town to visit. Tell me when you´ll come.
Devika – you are lucky if you can be in the present without the desire to escape the more difficult parts or always wanting more while missing the beauty of the moment. Often in our society folks want more, more, more! Constantly wanting to fulfill the void or hardship with new toys, gadgets, relationships etc. I’m not saying that desire in entirely bad, it’s just good to see what is underlying it.
Princess- it’s a good reminder at times.
Tomas- it’s good to debate and see differing sides to a point. We can at least agree to disagree ☺ I will let you know when my plans are in action. I’d love to have you show me your beautiful city!
Devika - I like that you get to the bottom of things and make folks think (and feel). I can totally relate to the life-force of desire. I'm dancing with that right now - desiring (for my soul) a trip abroad, for an extended time. It's partly a means of escape, but what lies deeper is a true need to explore, to seek, to fulfill a yearning, and to grow from the inside out. Thanks for your support. :]
this is a lovely photo, i love the sun reflected in the windows. Wise quote, I think it's not about desire being wrong but that if you allow desires for new or different things to take over then they spoil things. If we never felt any sort of desire then we'd never do anything....
Yes I agree : alway remember what you got and enjoy what you will get. We only have two hands... And the picture is wonderful. A simple wooded house opened towards the sun. A room upstairs and a chimney. What else to be happy ?
I enjoy the outdoors, where I gather much of my creative inspiration. I find it necessary to spend time in nature, for balance and sanity. Get Zapped is where I post my photos accompanied by quotes I find intriguing. Get Zen is for sharing my Illustrations, design work, poetry, and other creative outlets. Thanks for stopping by.

Yuck...tax season!
I choose to disagree:
Desire is a sign of life.....I would say desire, desire, desire....if one is achieved, go for the next...and be alive :)
but, for me, i choose to try this one:
“I used to desire many, many things, but now I have just one desire, and that's to get rid of all my other desires,” John Cleese
Nice photo as always, GZ :)

I understand GZ :)
My present is sometimes difficult...though we say "joys" of the present, its not always about...
I just have to tide it off, when after a while i feel happy that I've overcome --ofcourse, faith in God and self helps....
Desire -- can become the cause of unsatifaction, anger and hatred....the desire i was talking was about the life-force, GZ

No life without desire :)
