Ride a Bike!

When I see an adult on a bicycle, I do not despair for the future of the human race. ~H.G. Wells

A bicycle is the best mode of transport...

If more people were using it, the world wouldn't have been so bad as it is today...depleted oil reserves, pollution, health aspects...

Good post, GZ :)

i've always like this quote. unfortunately, it seems to drift farther from the truth these days.

anony- come back!

devika- I agree. I don't ride as much as I think I should, but I'm older and wiser, thus riding in the cold, dark rain isn't appealing to me anymore....

humano- ditto.

A&P- I didn't either. Yes it is!

janice- aweseome!

Kat- yep.

polona- thanks. yes, let's hope it catches on.

marc- thanks for noticing and commenting.

KMF- gracias

raindog- we can hope folks find the joy and benefit of riding a bike...

I love to bike but don't do it so much as like you I am older (maybe not wiser) and sometimes the world seems all uphill.

Where in the PNW are you? (if I may ask)

Hi GZ,

Riding a bicycle doesn't imply riding in the cold and rain, my dear friend..

ofcourse there are days, when we take other modes of transport also -- then I prefer public transport or trains than private vehicles :)

I love photos of shadows when they can stand alone. Terrific!
Confession: I can't ride a bike. I bought one a few years back and went about two feet. I had a terrible accident on a bike when I was 18 and I guess I can't get the vision out of my head when I sit on one.
I'll carpool when I can though! How's that?

Congrats on winning the poetry contest at LS!!

Impossible to explain scientifically how a bicycle can move forwards without falling, and yet it does. So it is the proof it is not necessary to understand the whole universe.

Great photo and quote!

I can't wait for the weather to be better and the days longer so I can ride to and from work again. I miss it so much.

Thanks for your comment. Have a great day!

Obviously, H.G. never had his favorite local park taken over by bullet-head-helmeted leotard wearin' yuppies, who are so politically active they got almost every other way to enjoy the park "ordinanced" against.

An ordinary, plain-clothed citizen using a bike for transport; my spirit could rise from seeing that. The afore-mentioned kind bring visions of war...

I haven't been around in a while so I just settled on this one to comment on after reading the whole page, all very good posts, as usual. I wish I had time to comment on them all.

Great shadow shot here, by the way.
