Do you know Leo Buscaglia? I love what he wrote about "expectations".
If I find the quote in english, I will post it here... if I leave you the italian translation, it won't help you... ehhehe ^___^

Hey GZ,
I've found the quotes on expectations... there you are ^___^

"Never idealize others. They will never live up to your expectations. Don't over-analyse your relationships. Stop playing games. A growing relationship can only be nurtured by genuineness."

"People are not here to meet your expectations."

"Love is always bestowed as a gift - freely, willingly and without expectation. We don't love to be loved; we love to love."

Well, I think you can easily find some Buscaglia's works as "Living, Loving and Learning" or "Born for Love". He is an american author. He was born in Los Angeles in 1924, son of Italian immigrants.
Raised Roman Catholic, he was influenced by Buddhism in his adult life. He was also a professor at University of Southern California and passed away in 1998.

... I say goodbye to you with another of his beautiful thoughts:

"Don't spend your precious time asking 'Why isn't the world a better place?' It will only be time wasted. The question to ask is 'How can I make it better?' To that there is an answer."

What delightful and insightful words to find first thing this morning ;} I will indeed investigate his work. I'm curious too; because Buddhism really resonates with me and I like that Buscaglia's work is influenced by this practice. So timely that you send these - I can especially relate to the "Don't over-analyse your relationships".

Thank you for your gifts!

You are so right. And your vocabulary is just fine! Good for you for expanding yourself through another language. I have placed a hold on one of Buscaglia's books.

Enjoy your day!

^___^... I love my language, but I'm fascinated by other languages too... they are doors to different way of life and worlds... they are a daily discovery. Did you get a Buscaglia's book already? You've been as quick as lightning... ^o^ Then you'll have to tell me what you think about it ;-)... by the way, which book is it?

Enjoy your reading!

Howdy~

I just received a notice that his book is in. The title is "Born for love: reflections on loving". Do you have a favorite? I'm hoping to get to the library before I leave for vacation at the end of the week. So I can read it on the plane ; )

Be well ~Michelle
