What Art Is

I don't listen to what art critics say. I don't know anybody who needs a critic to find out what art is. ~Jean-Michel Basquiat

This is a great quote!

Thanks for stopping by and having a look at my Halloween photos. The people in the town that I live in, go ghost wild and it was terrific fun.

True-
however, we do learn a lot from other people...but perhaps artists are better served to learn from other artists and from life itself than from some snooty-old critic! (please excuse the generalization!)

princess- oh, it was my joy to see a town letting loose in a ghostly way!

polona- it's something that gets you in the bones...

janice- yea!

lp- well, I agree with you, we learn from others, but the critic is just that; a critic. It's great to hear from you as usual.

lyrically- me, too!

Wonderful quote! For many of us, our worse critics are our inner ones. Art is personal, either it resonates with you or it doesn't. I don't feel we have the right to say what is or what isn't "art."
