A Gift

When you learn something from people, or from a culture, you accept it as a gift, and it is your lifelong commitment to preserve it and build on it. ~Yo-Yo Ma

Hello Getzapped,
What a gorgeous blog you have.
Thanks for visiting mine & commenting.
There's no doubt, I could do with a bit of zapping myself.
But I do understand what you're saying and this beautiful piece above, I will steal for myself as a silent reflection so thank you.
And please do come visit again.

Sounds like something Mandela would say. Or any great person, for that matter. Nice place you got here.

I enjoyed your observations on a poem on my blog. Ta!

Nice image and quote, now I just need to get my students to realise this and remember myself that I am accepting a gift when they teach me about their culture instead of getting frustrated by the differences.

Yes, this is a very powerful quote. So true and not always easy to put to practice. Acceptance isn't easy for some. And yet I love the idea.

Rethabile - loved the poem on your blog and felt inspired to comment. I really related to his poem.

Kamsin- I hope you can embrace the culture of your students and they a little of yours ; )

Thank you for the visit and comments!
